CABLE LAYER BARGE INTO SELF PROPELLED DP2 CABLE LAYER MAJOR UPGRADE
During 2014/15 Cebarka Ltd. supported Viktor Lenac shipyard in Rijeka, Croatia, through consultancy / lead role activities within Yard QC & commissioning team, in their major upgrade project ´Cable Enterprise´ intended for Prysmian Powerlink Services from the UK, in which a moored cable-laying barge was upgraded into a DP2 cable-laying barge able to autonomously manoeuvre with her own propulsion system during cable installation process.
PARTICULARS UPON UPGRADE:
· LOA = 124.30 m (barge has been extended for 10 m), B = 31.60 m, T = 4.94 m, H = 6.98 m, deadweight = 10543 MT
· 1400 tons of new steel fit (bulbous bow, fwd & aft engine room block, two new decks for accommodation)
· 155 km of cables & 145 tons of piping installed
· accommodation upgrade of up to 80 persons
· 2 x VOITH Schneider 360° rotating thrusters
· 2 x Wärtsilä Retractable Azimuth Thrusters
· 2 x Wärtsilä Transverse Thrusters
· 8.000 kw installed power (makes her amongst the most powerful submarine cable-laying barges)
· 7 independent positioning systems
· sophisticated NoX emission reduction system based on urea solution production plant (achieving an almost 80% NoX emission reduction), compliant with IMO Tier 3 standard installed
· new cable tank to increase barge versatility for future cable projects installed
· 4,000 tons carousel
· bundled cable lay capability 180 tons, pull ahead winch for ploughing operations
